Paramatric Design using Dynamo-Project 2

I conducted project 2 based on the same building.

 Phoenix International Media Center

Completed: 2014
Height: 55 m
Total floor area: 64,973 square meters
Land area: 18,821 square meters
Building owner: Phoenix Satellite
Designer: Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (Group) Co., Ltd (BIAD)
Developer: Phoenix Satellite Television

I did three parts in project 2.

1. Conceptual Mass Design using Dynamo
2. Parametric design of of using family parameters in Dynamo
3. Color change of curtain panel

1. I used the same method in the mass build in Dynamo.

Create a circle, put segmentation points on the circle and build the ellipse on the point, rotate the ellipse for a certain angle.

Then I build the solid form with the rotated ellipse.

The challenge is to calculate the angle and put the mass of Dynamo in a Revit project.

2. Parametric design of of using family parameters in Dynamo

I used the parameter in the mass family which is the radius of the bass circle as the passing parameter. So the mass size can be changed in Dynamo.

3. Color change of curtain panel

This section contains two parts.

First I change the color of whole the curtain panel.

Second, I changed the color of each curtain window based on its location.

I extract the location coordinate (x, y, z) as the color pixel (r, g, b). The coordinates need to be changed into (0, 255). So I used the formula to calculate the absolute value and transform the value into range (0, 255). The primary changing parameter can be seen as the darkness of the colors.
